I genuinely thought I knew all the Batman Forever merchandise out there and then this popped up on my eBay feed. I already knew that they'd made some talking posters (we'll get to those one day) but I wasn't aware of this particular talking head.
Micro Games of America made all the electronic merchandise for Batman Forever - I've already covered the Batmobile phone and FM radio. I've still got to record a quick review of the Personal Organiser.
This talking head is basically one of those kid toys that quickly records your voice and plays it back to you a little distorted to make it sound like it's copying you. Sort of similar to that Talkboy thing Macauley Culkin used in Home Alone 2.
Apparently it was meant to be able to be voice-activated but probably due to age that doesn't work any more. Thankfully there's a button on the top that you can use as a back-up. The voice of the Riddler is decent but it doesn't sound like Jim Carrey.
That reminds me - remember the talking Riddler figure Kenner made - apparently that WAS Jim Carrey who recorded it on the phone for Kenner. It's so distorted you can hardly tell.
And the look of the Riddler is head is also just fine. Nothing special. A bit of a step down from the Kenner micro playset.
They used this same mold seemingly on the walkie talkie headset.
