Batman Forever Merchandise Review - Batman figure from Hot Toys

Super excited to finally own one of these amazing Hot Toys Batman figures. My god are they expensive but the detail is superb.

This Batman one has some advantages over the Robin figure. For one, you get many more gadgets. The one I couldn't identify in the video I did find out later was the grapple hook that Batman fires when Claw Island starts rising into the air.

I would have love to have seen more but I guess they were restricting them to the ones he uses while wearing the Sonar Suit. Maybe if they do a Panther suit later they'll include the ones he uses during the bank heist.

Anyway, not a lot to critique. The sculpt is great and the face in particular in superb. I love that they included the ability to remove the eyes and replace them with the "Sonar Grid" ones. I think they should have been a bit more blue though.

Unfortunately, like the Robin figure, this one is also very difficult to pose in any kind of dynamic way. That's fine though, I tend to keep all my stuff in "museum poses" anyway.

Anyway, as I say in the video, lots more 1/6 scale figures to follow.

Batman Forever Merchandise Review - Robin figure from Hot Toys

So I know this is a little late. I was really on the fence about picking up the Hot Toys Batman Forever figures. I'm a huge fan of vintage figures but don't tend to buy too many "new" figures. The price point of them is really high (around £175) and for a long time I felt like there was no way I could afford either of them.

Recently I got a job upgrade and the price lowered slightly on eBay so I decided to bite the bullet and get one. I'm glad I did because these are really special figures. The finish on them is spectacular as is the attention to detail. As I say in the video, this is the closest you'll get to having a tiny Chris O'Donnell in your hands.

As some have pointed out, it's not perfect. The shade of red they chose doesn't seem to match the on-screen costume (it was admittedly difficult to figure out exactly what it should be given in the film it is usually lit with strong coloured lighting).

But on the whole it is great. The other issue is the poseability. The promo shots of this have the figure in all the cool poses from the film but the reality is that the suit really bends in awkward ways when you move the arm or legs out of their default positions. It doesn't both me much as I rarely pose figure but might be a consideration for others.

Batman Forever Merchandise Review - Cosrider figure from Hot Toys

I reviewed the 4 Batman Forever Cosbaby figures by Hot Toys a while back. When I saw they were also doing a Forever Batmobile I was going to give it a miss. I'm not super into the "super deformed" style of figures and I have a ton of other Batmobiles in my collection.

However on closer inspection this is something a little different. It's actually a miniature version of the kids ride-on batmobile that was out at the time. You know the kind of thing where they'd be outside shops and your mum would put a pound in and you'd sit in it and it would go up and down and play a tune for 2 minutes.

The Batman figure that is standing out the top is also not just the original Cosbaby figure. It's a new sculpt. Hats off to Hot Toys for coming out with such an oddball idea. It's totally unique in my collection.

Anyway, as I say in the video it's a shame this doesn't play Seal or U2 or even some Elliot Goldenthal. I'll have to look into that - getting some kind of motion sensor that automatically plays "Kiss From a Rose" when you walk into my collection.

Batman Forever Merchandise Review - Cosbaby Riddler and Two Face set from Hot Toys

In the last few years there's been quite a few NEW Batman Forever figures released which is awesome for a 27 year old movie that isn't - shall we say - universally beloved.

While we wait for the Hot Toys and Prime 1 Studio figures (the jury is still out if I can afford those eye watering prices) I'm happy to see these more affordable Cosbaby figures.

I know everyone is not a fan of these Japanese-style SD figures but I find them cute and fun.

The Cosbaby line is smaller than the Funko Pop line but they are also more detailed. I particularly love the coin in Two Face's hand which looks like it's mid flip. And it is nice to have actual eyes rather than those giant white dots that Funko figures have.

I think the Batman and Robin set were a little more interesting with their metallic sheen but the Riddler and Two Face set are pretty cool too.

The price was about £40ish a year ago but it's coming down. If you scope around on eBay you might be able to find one of the sets for closer to £20.

Batman Forever Merchandise Review - Cosbaby Batman and Robin figures from Hot Toys

If you liked the recent Funko Pop Batman Forever figures you might also be interested in this twin set of figures from Hot Toys from their Cosbaby line. Urgh I hate that name.

Anyway, the advantage with this particular set is that you get a Chris O'Donnell Robin figure (come on Funko get on making one). The price is a little higher than Funkos but the detail is a little better too. You get more than just a simple mouth and white button eyes.

I'll hopefully be picking up the Riddler and Two Face set too. If the forthcoming 6" life like Hot Toys figures are out of your price range these are a decent silver prize.

Val Kilmer Sonar Suit Batman figure from Hot Toys unveiled

Apologies for the delay in this news. I've been so  focused on getting new videos up for this site it somehow escaped my notice that Hot Toys has unveiled a prototype of a Sonar Suit Val Kilmer figure at the Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games convention!

Here's a photo alongside the Robin figure. Hoping these come in a two-pack and that more figures are on the way.

Hot Toys Chris O'Donnell Robin unveiled at SDCC 2019

I anticipated with the 25th anniversary next year that some toy companies would look to tap into the nostalgia and release some figures. I had predicted it would be NECA or MacFarlane but I was really surprised to see this morning that Hot Toys unveiled a Chris O'Donnell Robin figure at San Diego Comic Con. As expected with Hot Toys the detail is fantastic and the figure looks excellent. Going to need to start saving now. Expect it to be released next year.

No word on if they'll be doing any other figures but I'd be surprised if we don't at least get a Batman too.
